Emily Barger...our little angel

The following was posted by Emily's Dad, Brian, yesterday. I have postponed sending this because I needed to speak with Madi first. She is having a tough time but knows that Emily is in heaven and her pain is gone. I will post addresses to send condolences later today.
Please give YOUR angel-on-earth an extra hug today.
Love, Rhonda
June 25, 2008 at 06:07 PM EDT
On Tuesday night at 9:00 heaven got another little angel,, and her name,, Emily Barger.
She fought this horrible disease and the complications from surgery to the very end. It was hard to watch her go, but we know now that her body is once again whole and not hurting any more.
Misty and I want to thank everyone for their support and prayers, and coming together to lift up our little daughter and our family.
In the end, Emily lost her earthly battle, but while doing so help lots of people come together for a common cause, and in that she is and always will be a winner.
We will be receiving friends at Salem Baptist Church in Halls Thursday, from 5 to 8, with services following. Emily will be burried in Madisonville at 3 on Friday. Madisonville and the farm in Sweetwater were the two places where Emily loved to be, so we thought that would be fitting for her final resting place.
For directions to the church you can log onto www.salembaptisthalls.org
This is not the last update there will be at least one more, I'm not sure when that will happen.
Until then..Take Care and God Bless

Kinney Drugs Miracle Dinner
Photos will be uploaded later but I MUST get this out to everyone.
First, my sincerest thanks to Ashley Adams, Alexandra Davis, Izzy Marsala and Miss Madi for performing "If No One Will Listen" last evening. It was certainly one of the greatest highlights of my career.
Second, I wish you all could have been there. After Goose Gossage spoke, they surprised the 500 plus attendees by having the girls come out in costume. Cindy Bufalini (who, with words alone, made me cry) introduced them.
The crowd grew quiet, the dance began, the girls were In The Zone. End of dance-- pause of silence and then...a ROAR of applause. Everyone jumped to their feet and a LONG standing ovation began. Goose stood up, grabbed Madi and lifted her to his shoulder. The crowd went NUTS and the ovation continued for about three minutes.
GOOSE bumps--- get it?? Ha.
I want to thank Stacy from Kinney Drugs for making this an evening that NONE of the dancers (and especially a glowing Madi) will EVER forget.
For Jocelyn, who makes wishes come true every day, a great hug of thanks...
and to Madi "our miracle" thanks...just for being YOU!

Carthage Recital June 30th

Press Release Re: “In The Co. of Angels” Carthage Outreach Recital
For Immediate Release
Contact: Rhonda Foote/Artistic Director
rhonda@inthecoofangels.com
315-767-3978
On Monday evening, June 30th, students from “In The Company of Angels” will hold their Outreach Recital in the gymnasium at St. Augustinian School in Carthage.
Showtime is 7:00 p.m. and will feature dancers, gymnasts, theater pieces and vocalists from the company. The evening of entertainment will include performers of all ages.
Co-Directors Rhonda Foote and Carrie Grant-Edick are happy to showcase the first season of talent from their studio located at 264 State Street, Carthage. The evening will include guest artists from the Gouverneur location, also.
“The company is a true collaboration of talent from across the North Country. Aside from our full time studios and gyms in Carthage and Gouverneur, we are also starting a program in Watertown located at I.H.C. Intermediate School,” stated Carrie Grant-Edick.
“This, along with our grant supported after school programs, helps us to fulfill our business goal- to make arts education accessible to and affordable for all who wish to study”, added Rhonda Foote.
The company will also perform both Friday and Saturday during the St. James Fair. A registration table will be set up for all three local performances. Interested individuals may also visit www.coofangels.blogspot.com for schedule information or call 315-767-3978 to register for summer or fall programs.

A Thank You from the Dance Director

Dear All,
I want to personally thank everyone for a terrific performance at SLU yesterday.
To the Gouverneur dancers:
WOW!! I hope you realize just how much you have accomplished since September. You made me laugh and cry yesterday with your improvement and your talent. I am excited to see what this summer and next season will bring for all of you.
To the Carthage dancers:
As always, you made me soooooooooo proud. Your commitment to me and your fellow company dancers was evident in so many ways-- mostly in the fact that you drove ALL that way for two long days to share your talents. MUAH.
To the parents:
Thank you for sharing your "Little Wonders" with me. Never doubt that no matter the heat, the length of the day or the stress of the costume changes...weekends like the past one are the stuff that dancer's dreams are made of. YOU are incredible for making your child's dreams come true.
Thank you,
Rhonda Foote
Artistic and Dance Director

I wanted to share the following email I received from Emily Barger's Dad--
Rhonda,
Thank you very much for the care package it really
made Emily's day to get something from you and
Madison. The pink dragon was "ordered" to be put on
her bed so she could see it. Unfortunately she has not
been feeling well enough to play with any of the
items.
Also tell eveyone thanks for the cards, Misty read
them to Emily yesterday.
That's all for now, I have to get back to work.
Brian

Emily's updated condition: They had to delay radiation treatment due to her fragile health. They hope to do that today. Emily's tumor has grown 8 inches in one week and has pushed her organs to one side. She is having difficulty breathing and eating and is pain whenever she is awake. For Madi and I, it is so hard to think of Emily this way when, just in March, she was running around Disney and swimming in the pool with Madi...please keep her in you prayers-- Rhonda

Samaritan Keep Spring 08
On Sunday, Apri. 27th, performers from In The Company of Angels Outreach Company entertained for the residents of Samaritan Keep in Watertown.
The dancers performed solos and groups for the very appreciative audience.
They tapped, clogged, and did lyrical ballet routines to fill the afternoon with music, dance and enjoyment.
After the performance, they spent some time visiting with the residents. This is the third visit the company has made to Samaritan Keep so far this year and they plan to return in July.
Company Directors Rhonda Foote and Carrie Edick say that the young dancers enjoy the interaction with the residents and realize how much the residents enjoy their visits. "This is what is truly important", commented dance director, Rhonda Foote.
The studio is located in both Carthage and Gouverneur, NY
IHC gala slide show
On Saturday, April 26th, about twenty members of In The Company of Angels Outreach Performance Company entertained the audience at the IHC Spring Fling.
The theme for the formal evening was "New York, New York". Dancers shared their talents while performing to songs from Broadway musicals. The company topped off the evening with a finale number to Frank Sinatra's classic hit, "New York, New York".
Faculty in attendance included Dance Director Rhonda Foote, Gymnastics Director Carrie Edick and Instructor Teri Gene Conlin.
Ms. Edick noted, "the performers rehearsed all afternoon and performed all evening, the day was a success both as a show and as a wonderful opportunity for the company members to bond and share the day. Many friends were made!"
In The Company of Angels has locations in both Carthage and Gouverneur, NY. For more information, call 287-4100.

BRCS Express The Positive Workshop

"In The Company of Angels" debuted its Lewis Co. Youth Bureau Grant workshop and assembly "Express The Positive" at Beaver River Central on April 10th and 11th. More than twenty middle school students joined Rhonda in an after school assembly to learn how the arts promote self esteem and confidence and help with making good choices.
The workshop incorporated acting, word association, art, movement and writing. The overall themes were "It's not what you say, it's how you say it" and, of course, "Express the positive".
On Friday, the workshop participants joined company members in an assembly for their peers. They danced, sang, acted, showed artwork, played instruments and threw in some comedy!
Co-Director and workshop instructor Rhonda Foote was pleased with the energy and outlook the students brought to both the workshop and the assembly.
Co-Director Carrie Edick stated, "If even one young person feels better about their interest and involvement in the arts after participating in the workshop or viewing the assembly, we have accomplished something wonderful".
For more information on how you can bring the "Express The Positive" workshop to your school, contact rhonda@inthecoofangels.com or call 315-287-4100.

A small group of performers from “In The Company of Angels” hit the stage for the Dance Xplosion regional competition in Watertown the weekend of March 8th. They could not have anticipated that the students from studio locations in Carthage and Gouverneur, NY would waltz away with so many honors.
The two day competition was held the weekend of March 8th at the Dulles State Office Building. The auditorium hosted competitors from studios throughout the region. Studio Directors Carrie Edick and Rhonda Foote noted that their choreography, along with that of staff members Stephanie Warnekros, Jessica Jones, and Kierstyn Zaykoski made a fine showing.

The judges also chose performers to attend Nationals this summer as part of the Xtreme Team. Students from “In the Company of Angels” chosen were: Kierstyn Zaykoski, Maneka McIntosh, Grace Seybert, Justina Davenport, Julie Peck, KC Edick and Brielle Farley.
The Directors were thrilled with the results from this debut competition. Carrie Edick noted “this proves that we can bring together performers and choreographers from several locations successfully.” Artistic Director, Rhonda Foote, was most pleased that “while most of the studios competing have been focusing solely on preparation for these competitive events, our performers have been spending the majority of their time on outreach performances to benefit others. Competition results have not been our main focus, but the results are certainly positive and astounding.”
The Directors and company members are looking forward to attending “Access Broadway” competition in Syracuse at the end of the month. Approximately fifty performers will compete in over sixty numbers from the company. They are also beginning preparations for an Americana benefit production to hit the stage this spring.

Tourniquet wins video contest!

Rhonda Foote, Artistic Director of In The Company of Angels Fine Arts Studio and Outreach Company, was recently notified that she was the grand prize winner in a video contest for dancers on the internet.
Freetodance.net is a nationwide dance community on the world-wide web. The website sponsors an annual video contest for choreographers.
Ms. Foote entered the video of her modern dance piece “Tourniquet” for consideration. She was honored to be chosen as the winner and will receive $200.00 and $100.00 in dance merchandise from Free To Dance. She will also have the story of how “Tourniquet” was choreographed published on the website and her piece will be copyrighted so that other dancers may purchase the rights to perform the piece.
“Tourniquet” was videotaped in 2005. The modern dance piece features the talents of Stephanie Warnekros, Courtney Belloff, Katie Sloan and Kara Emily Nicol. All four dancers studied with Ms. Foote. Local videographer, Kris Marsala, shot the piece in a room in downtown Watertown’s historic Lincoln Building.
The modern dance piece tells the story of four troubled young women who find spirituality and comfort with each other and themselves via the dance. The video can be viewed by logging on to the site www.freetodance.net .
Ms. Foote is Artistic Director and Dance Director for In The Company of Angels with locations in Carthage and Gouverneur, N.Y. The Outreach company presents several productions yearly as benefits for local people in need. For further information, email Ms. Foote at rhonda@inthecoofangels.com or call the studio at 315-287-4100.
