New number for ages 5-9 begins 1/14/08!

Rhonda is excited to announce that beginning in January, she will add a new company/competition number to the roster for dancers age 5 through 9 years.

This class will be held every other Tuesday evening in Carthage from 6:15-6:45 p.m. The class is an $8.00 walk in fee or two punches on your membership card.

This number will be featured in several local outreach performances and participating students will have the opportunity to join the “Big Kids” at competitions in Syracuse, NY this spring!

The number will be in the “open” category, so whether you study ballet, tap, hiphop, gymnastics or “whatever”, Rhonda will find a spot for you in this child-oriented number.

Costumes will be basic and cost effective. Fundraising opportunities will be available to help cover competition fees and travel costs for participants.

SO, please plan to join us on Tuesday, January 14th as we begin the every-other-week schedule of rehearsals for this number!

Questions? Contact Rhonda at: rhonda@inthecoofangels.com or call her personal cell phone: 315-767-3978.

Carrie and Rhonda realize that this is our future generation of talent and enthusiasm and are pleased to bring the focus onto the “next generation”!!

There’s one form of communication which is understood internationally and has no language barrier. This form of expression is music. Music can tell a story or give us insight to what is about to happen; it can make us happy or sad, and even make us recollect our thoughts from days gone by. Sometimes when we hear a certain song we can remember the things we were doing when that particular song was popular.

Music has touched the souls of many and even consumed some of us. I have enjoyed listening and performing various types of music for the past 40 years. I received my first electric guitar on Christmas of 1967 while living in the Hudson Valley; form that point on I was enthralled. I became interested in harmonic sounds and bass guitar. During the next five years I performed in the Ichabod Crane High School Choir; Directed by Dr. Johnson and participated in several interstate student exchanges along with a performing at the Lincoln Arts Center. Coupled with performing in choir I spent two of those years performing percussion in the high school band.

I moved to the North Country in 1972 and soon after my high school graduation I enlisted in the US Army. After a long three year obligation, I returned to my roots and played with several bands in Austin, TX. I moved back to the North Country and coordinated the last 1000 Islands Music Festival produced by Arena Productions in Clayton Center. This three day event was to be booked as the second Woodstock. 14,000 people attended the event. I worked with such artists as Blue Oyster Cult, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Chubby Checkers, Duke Williams and The Extremes, The Greg Kin Band, and South Side Johnny. Soon after, I went to work for WOTT and WNCQ filling the airways with the best of pop and country. While working there, in the early part of 1982, myself and other local musicians in the Jefferson County area and formed the band “Lake Effect”. Our band specialized in Classic Rock and some of the newer country and rock that was popular in the early 80’s. The group finished its last job at a Deer Roast on the Number Four Road in the summer of 1984. Other bands in the North Country which I performed with were: Storm Watch, Bonnie and the Late Show, A Taste of Country, and Borderline.

Form 1987 -1990 I operated and managed Hilton Piano in the salmon Run Mall. Many students were instructed in Bass guitar, Guitar, Piano, and Drums.

In 2005 I was awarded an A.A.S from Jefferson Community College in Business. I took every opportunity to fill my free time with classes in music and the arts. While at Jefferson I took an opportunity to see and visit the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. I performed with faculty and staff during several functions each semester for the students and also entertained the children at the day care facility there. Since then I have been attending SUNY Potsdam and will graduate in the spring of 2008. While at Potsdam I have written many original pieces which I have performed at Jefferson Community College.

This area has always been close to my heart and I would like the opportunity to pass on the gift of music to your children. This is my way of giving back to a community whom has supported my music for over the past 25 years. Your children will be afforded the opportunity to learn Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Vocal Range coupled with Projection.

I look forward to sharing with you and your children.

It's WitchCraft final notes and show info

This is it!
All our work comes to showtime TOMORROW!
Here's what you need to know:

Carrie and I will start rehearsal set up at 3 p.m. in Lowville Academy Auditroium tomorrow. We anticipate rehearsal starting at 3:30 p.m. Please arrive and be ready for your first number by that time.
We are running in full costume for rehearsal; but hair and makeup need not be done.

Remember; come prepared and be a good audience member at all times.

So far, I am planning on the following helpers:
Pam backstage line up
Candi and Amy (Nelle's mom) lobby donations
Stephanie, Nelle, Jordyn, Kirstin and Taylor (roaming helpers)

If you can also help in the lobby with silent auctions and basket raffles that is wonderful!

We will all get pizza during our break and all performers will report onstage behind the closed curtain promptly at 7 p.m. for review and final notes. We will stretch and then return to starting places. Parents, please only come back if your child is under the age of 6...7 & up should stay without parents for warm up and notes.

Curtain will rise at 7:30 and the show runs about one hour and fifteen minutes. The show has been broken up into three Acts. Performers will report backstage right at the start of each act they are performing in. They will be able to return to their seats when they are done (unless they are in another number during that act). Parents, please do NOT hang in the wings. Your children will perform much better with you in the audience to watch them..and we do not want alot of people backstage or running back and forth during the show. We do have adults backstage at all times; your children are in good hands. :0)

For the Ghostbuster finale we will just wear whatever costume we are already in, so no worries!!

We are excited to do this FOR JEFFREY!!! Tell all your friends and family to come and enjoy the show!

-Rhonda and Carrie

Rhonda Foote named to October faculty of National Assoc. of Dance and Affiliated Artists Workshop

Local Dance Director Named to Faculty of National Association

Rhonda Foote, Artistic and Dance Director of “In The Company of Angels” has been asked to join the Regional Faculty in Syracuse NY for the National Association of Dance and Affiliated Artists (NADAA) convention on October 21, in Syracuse, NY.

Ms. Foote will instruct both students and teachers in Jazz and Tap Dance at the convention. NADAA is a national organization offering dance and arts education throughout the country. Ms. Foote is thrilled to be selected for their prestigious faculty.

”I’m honored that I was chosen to join the NADAA faculty,” said Ms. Foote.

Co-Director, Carrie Edick and several students from “In The Company of Angels” will travel to Syracuse for the day of dance education featuring Ms. Foote and an instructor from the Binghamton, NY area.

“In The Company of Angels” is a Fine Arts studio and Outreach Performance Company located in Carthage. Classes are also offered through the studio at Liberty Gymnastics and Dance Center in Gouvernour, NY. The company will present “It’s WitchCraft” at Lowville Academy on Saturday, November 3rd at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds from the show will benefit a Lowville family faced with extreme medical-related costs due to their child’s two-year hospitalization.

To contact “In The Company of Angels” call 315-921-6303 or email

angels@inthecoofangels.com .

About "It's WitchCraft"

On Saturday, November 3rd, we will present "IT'S WITCHCRAFT" to benefit Jeffrey, a ten year old boy from Lowville, NY.
The show will feature tap, jazz, hiphop, modern, lyrical, clog and character dance. Gymnasts will tumble and there will be pianists, violinists and vocalists as well.
We will feature two outstanding artists in the lobby and will have a coffee cart for your enjoyment prior to the show.
We are anticipating a special presentation before the 7:30 curtain TBA later this week!
All proceeds at the door and during the "Trick or Treat for Jeffrey" finale will be given to the family. Ten percent of any artwork sold will be donated to his family and ten percent of the coffee cart proceeds will be given to the performers towards future activities.

I (Rhonda) spoke at length with Jeffrey's StepMom, Lynnette Franks, this weekend. Jeffrey suffers from an extremely rare immune deficiancy disorder. He has been hospitalized for two years with only ONE four-hour visit home. Jeffrey has had two bone marrow transplants and still is at severe risk for infection. He is now in Rochester, but was eight hours away from home for the majority of his hospitalization.
Lynnette kept praising our community and the people who have been so helpful and supportive to Jeffrey's family; the school, their neighbors, etc. I was overwhelmed with her strength and hope that I have an opportunity to continue getting to know this woman!

This is what I ask;
over the long weekend, what did YOU do with your child?
Go for a walk, visit a pumpkin farm? Decorate for the holiday? Play in the leaves? Read a story, watch a movie?
Now, think about what Jeffrey did this holiday.

Please mark Saturday, November 3rd on YOUR calendar. We want to fill the house for this incredible boy and his family...and want to see YOU there. We promise you will be entertained and inspired by this evening of "WitchCraft"!

September Newsletter

In the Company of Angels and Liberty Gymnastics Center
Carthage, NY
September Newsletter

From The Directors: We want to welcome everyone to an exciting year at our new Outreach Performance Company; IN THE COMPANY OF ANGELS. “We are not a dance studio- we are a fine arts company.” There will be no end of the year recital. Instead, we will have several original performances throughout the year that will help someone or a cause in our communities. Our motto is “Express The Positive”. It is our mission statement to share the positive results of fine art participation with our students, their families and our communities. We are very happy to have you here with us and look forward to this year’s events. – Carrie and Rhonda

Family Membership Cards – The payment system is a punch card system for the whole family. Each card is $100.00 and may be used for everyone in your family. The card will only be punched when your child attends class; you will only be paying when you are actually present for class or rehearsal. The card will also be used for large company groups and company numbers. You may also choose to pay per class on a walk-in basis. The per-class fee is $10.00. If you choose the punch card you save approximately $20.00. There is a separate charge for small groups, solos, duos and trios. If you are interested in one of these types of classes please let the desk attendant know and your instructor of choice will get back to you as soon as possible. We have allotted time in the existing schedule for individual to small group study and will work with you to find a time that accommodates your schedule. You may also contact us by email at angels@inthecoofangels.com to inquire about this aspect of our program.

You are NOT going to compete. (This is just for the choreographer so that he/she will
be certain groups and lines are balanced for competition).

-September Newsletter page 2-

“It’s Witchcraft” – This is our first outreach performance of the season. A flyer is available with more information regarding It’s Witchcraft and the rehearsal commitment. The information is also posted on our blog: www.coofangels.blogspot.com .
Remember; you can bring a friend from another “studio” or someone who just loves to perform to join us during rehearsals! Our performances are for the community and all in the community can participate in this show. You need not be going to competition. Even our preschoolers will be on stage! Use your membership plan or simply pay-by-the-rehearsal to be part of this “Spooktacular event”! Have fun and do something wonderful for a young boy from the Lowville area who has been hospitalized continuously for TWO years.

Fundraiser – We will be having an on going fundraiser at Make and Take Gourmet in Watertown. Please be sure to mention the Password “Angel” when you go there. The company will receive 10% of all proceeds if you do. We are also having a kick- off party there October 12th. For information and an invitation to the kick-off, please get on our email list. Simply email “put me on the list” to- Rhonda@inthecoofangels.com today! This is a great way to get to know the instructors, raise money for the kids, and provide healthy meals for your family. Be sure to tell your friends and family to use our password if they go there.
*We plan to offer several opportunities for fundraising. Our goal is to make fine arts participation as low cost and affordable as possible. Still, costs are inevitable. Especially if you choose to be part of competition or wish to travel to special events, we are working on fundraising projects to help cover “special costs” (i.e.: costumes, fees, travel costs, etc.) If you are interested in working on the fundraising committee, please sign the clipboard on the desk and leave your contact information.

Bring a friend day will be held the week of September 24th – 28th. If you have 2 friends sign up that week you will receive a credit for a free class. The person must mention your name at the time of registration.
Other Dates to Remember:
September 15th and 29th – It’s Witchcraft rehearsals (please see flyer)
October 9th – No Classes on Columbus Day

Costume Information – We will be going with a costume package this year. This will hopefully save people money and assist in making us more uniform when we perform locally. More information will be available the first week in October. Those students who choose to compete WILL be asked to purchase additional costumes in mid-November.

Special Events Notification- We already have many special events “in the works”. We will send out a group email and will post sign up information on the studio bulletin board whenever an event is coming up. You can also check our blog for information: www.coofangels.blogspot.com . Besides productions, we have after school dance parties in Lewis County, in school assemblies and workshops coming up, and community events such as holiday parades and festivals. Again, we wish to stress that these events are open to ALL of our members.

Spread the news…Share the excitement…”Express The Positive” today and everyday!!- Rhonda & Carrie

Hello Everyone. We have put together a fundraiser at Make and Take Gourmet. On October 12th, In the Company of Angels and Liberty Gymnastics Center will be having a private gourmet party. Rhonda and I will be there and it is a great way for all of us to get to know each other a little better and at the same time help the kids raise money and create packaged meals for our busy lifestyles. Attached is an invitation for the event. Please call ahead to sign up. 10 percent of the evening’s proceeds will benefit company dancers traveling for performances or competitions!
Hope to see you there.
Carrie and Rhonda
What is "Make and Take Gourmet?"
At a Make and Take Gourmet private party you can spend time with friends AND prepare meals for your family at the same time. What a concept! In just two hours you can make 6 or 12 really great meals and have fun doing it.

What you need to do prior to coming.
Each guest needs to R.S.V.P. online (see web address below). Each guest chooses and pays for his or her own meals. Go to “book a session” page on the website. Click on the “book an in-store session” button. Select the date and time your private party is scheduled for. If you are a first time customer you will need to register as a “new customer” first. After you register you will be asked to enter the above "private party password". All that’s left to do is to choose your 6 or 12 menu items and follow the remaining instructions.
www.makeandtakegourmet.com

What you need to bring.
We will serve complimentary coffee, water and snacks during your party. All of the cooking pans are provided as well. The only things you need to bring with you are a large cooler or laundry basket for transporting your meals home and your beverage of choice. Get ready to have fun AND have a “guilt-free” night out!

If you have any questions, please call Make and Take Gourmet Watertown location at 788-2739.

It's WitchCraft 2007 announced!

How YOU can join
“It’s WitchCraft” 2007
…a Company Tradition

In October 2006, Rhonda wrote, choreographed and directed the premiere presentation of “It’s WitchCraft”. Two shows were presented as a benefit for our friend, Lindsay Frost. Lindsay had a double lung transplant at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, PA in the summer of 2006 to help her fight Cystic Fibrosis. (Update on Lindsay: she is doing great!)

This October, we are improving and expanding the original production. Performance dates are now being set. We DO know that we will be performing to help the Franks family from Lowville. Jeffrey is ten years old and has been in the hospital for almost TWO years with a rare disorder. Recently, he was transferred from Ohio to Strong Memorial in Rochester. Still, all of us can only imagine the cost beyond his medical care; the travel, gas, strain on family income, etc.

“In The Company of Angels” will work with Scott Exford at Lowville Academy to present our show for this deserving family. Production date is pending.

If you study with us in any location, you may participate. Simply use your family membership card for rehearsals. There will be numbers for all ages and all types of dance and gymnastics. There will be vocal, acting and instrumental pieces.

“It’s WitchCraft” is truly MAGIC! We will, once again, cast our spell to assist a local family in need during the spellbinding month of October. Rehearsals begin in September, so please fill out the information below and return it to your instructor/choreographer today! You may also email your completed form to info@rhondasfooteworks.com….

Miracle Volunteer Award

So, I was uncertain of how to approach this blog piece.
I am a bit overwhelmed at the honor I have received...Miracle Volunteer of the Year.
Sponsored by CMN, it recognized me as Director of Rhonda's FooteWorks Dance Outreach Company and the work we have recently done for our communities.
I wish to thank Jocelyn Mejias for the honor; Allan Tuttle for the introduction; My Dad for always being there; Kris and the girls...most of all My Miracle, Madi. My company dancers and their parents as represented that evening by Courtney, Susan and "Madi's DeeDee"-DeAnne...and our future faculty addition to the new company-- Miss Lewis County, Katie Birchenough.
We are only as good as the people we are surrounded by.
I am so thankful that YOU surround me.
